Icebreaker

Camp Charades

All-nature, all-camp vocabulary — harder than it sounds.

All ages5–10 peopleMedium energy30–60 minNo setupCreative

What you need

  • A list of 30+ camp-themed charade words (written on scraps of paper and folded)
  • A timer (phone stopwatch)

How to play

  1. 1.Write 30 words on scraps of paper. Suggested: pitching a tent, building a fire, a bear in camp, roasting marshmallows, reading a trail map, setting up a hammock, catching a fish.
  2. 2.Split into two teams. Teams alternate turns.
  3. 3.One player draws a word, has 5 seconds to read it, then acts it out silently.
  4. 4.Their team guesses in 60 seconds. Correct guess = 1 point. No guess = 0 points.
  5. 5.Teams alternate until all words are used. Most points wins.

What success looks like

Team with the most correct guesses wins.

Variations

  • One word limit: the actor can only use one repeated gesture the whole time.
  • Relay: the actor must tag their next teammate mid-round to continue acting — team keeps guessing.
  • All-in: everyone acts simultaneously for the same word and everyone guesses — pure chaos.

Works great with these trip plans
