Is Trailstead Guide free?
Yes. The planner, the guides, and the gear recommendations are free. We earn small commissions on some gear links, which funds the writing.
Do I need an account?
No. Answer the 5 questions and the plan is yours — no login, no email required to see it.
Can I save my plan?
Yes — bookmark the URL or print the page. We also offer an optional email capture at the end if you want it sent to you.
What if my kids are different ages?
The planner uses the age of your youngest child as the pacing anchor, and then adds age-appropriate activities for each kid in your group.
What if I've camped before?
Trailstead is tuned for first-time families. If you've done 5+ trips, you'll find it too basic. Send it to a friend who hasn't.
Do you recommend specific campgrounds?
Not yet. Right now we help you structure the trip — campground selection is on the roadmap.
Can I trust the gear recommendations?
We only recommend gear we've personally used with our own families. Some links are affiliate links; we disclose this on every gear page.
What's your refund policy?
Everything here is free, so there's nothing to refund. If we ever sell anything, it will have a 30-day no-questions-asked refund policy.
