Nature exploration
Blindfold Trust Walk
Navigate a short trail using only your partner's voice.
Teens2–4 peopleMedium energy15–30 minNo setupCalm
What you need
- One bandana or sleep mask per pair (the guide does not wear one)
- A clear 50–100 foot path with minor obstacles
How to play
- 1.One player wears the blindfold; the other is the guide. Switch roles after each run.
- 2.The guide may only use words — no touching, no grabbing. Directions only: "step left," "duck now," "root at your right foot."
- 3.Walk the pre-set path from start to finish. The guide walks alongside but slightly behind.
- 4.After both players have gone, discuss: what instructions were clearest? What was hard to describe?
- 5.Increase difficulty by adding more obstacles or lengthening the course.
Variations
- Silence challenge: guide can only make two sounds (e.g. a click for "safe" and a snap for "stop").
- Obstacle course: set up 5 simple obstacles (log to step over, low branch to duck, tight gap).
- Full group chain: line of 3–4 people, each with a hand on the shoulder of the one ahead. Only the last person can see.
Safety notes
- Walk the course yourself before running it with a blindfolded partner.
- Clear any sharp rocks, roots, or stakes from the path.
- Move at a slow walking pace — running blindfolded is never safe.
